Taking the plunge into unknown and living the dream you always wanted is scary, challenging and rewarding at the same time.

In the pursuit of happiness you may change jobs, you may change countries, you may even change yourself. But always follow your heart!

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” – Steve Jobs

And here I am, November 2014, with one way ticket to Bangkok and lot of possibilities. I gave up my Toronto apartment and I have rented a new one in Bangkok. No fixed address from now on!

Switching from stable, full time job to freelance work comes with a price: the uncertainty of tomorrow. But tomorrow may never come! Becoming a freelancer has its own advantages, mainly control over time, work and location. My area of expertise is on web design/content management and photography.

The planning for the trip is flexible. Starting with an in-depth discovery of Bangkok, after my last visit in 2010 when my focus was on the main tourist attractions of the city. At the end of December I am going to celebrate the New Eve with my friend Ayako, in Nagoya, Japan. January 2015 is wide open: island hoping in Thailand, maybe Singapore, Taipei and Seoul, nothing planned.

Ending my post with the “Proud Mary” lyrics and song of Creedence Clearwater Revival:

“Left a good job in the city
Workin’ for the man ev’ry night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleepin’
Worryin’ ’bout the way things might have been.”

Actually, I lost a LOT of sleeping… C’est la Vie!
